Product Designer

- $180,000 – $280,000 base salary, plus equity

- Newport Beach, California. In person, three to four days a week.

This role owns product design at DSCO, covering the platform, the storefront builder, and the brands customers launch on top of them. There is no existing design team; the role sets the standard and the system.
The position requires both a high standard of craft in typography, spacing, motion and visual detail, and responsibility for the design reaching production accurately.
Responsibilities
- Own product surfaces end to end, including information architecture, interaction design, visual system and interface copy.
- Build and maintain the design system that keeps three products visually consistent.
- Work directly in the codebase where that is the most efficient route to production.
- Design for operators of regulated businesses, where comprehension and accuracy take priority over visual novelty.
Qualifications
- A portfolio of shipped product work rather than concept work, with the constraints and tradeoffs available for discussion.
- Fluency with a modern design tool, and judgment about when to work directly in the browser instead.
- Range across marketing pages and dense application interfaces.
- Well-reasoned positions, held and revised on evidence.
