We do not have an engineering ladder, because we do not have enough people to need one. We have one title and a wide range, and where you land in it is a function of what you can do, not how long you have been doing it.
You would be working on the DSCO Health Engine: the foundation underneath RUO Pro and Polymer. Storefront provisioning, catalog and compliance systems, document and e-signature pipelines, the data model for research-use-only commerce. Real products, real customers, real regulatory constraints.
The work
- Take a problem from an ambiguous description to something running in production, including the parts that are not writing code.
- Design the systems underneath our products — data models, service boundaries, deployment — and then operate them.
- Use AI tooling as an actual force multiplier. We expect engineers here to ship at a volume that would have needed a team five years ago, and to hold the quality bar while doing it.
- Talk to the people using what you build. There is no product manager layer to translate for you.
What we look for
- Evidence you have built and shipped something substantial, ideally something you owned rather than contributed to.
- Depth in TypeScript and modern React or Next.js, and enough range to be unbothered by infrastructure, databases, or a language you have not used before.
- Judgment about what not to build. The fastest code is the code that turned out to be unnecessary.
- Comfort with regulated domains, or the seriousness to get comfortable quickly. Compliance is a design constraint here, not a checklist at the end.
